I went to create this magazine this morning while watching WTC final, and I was told the name was already taken. Clearly someone else knew we'd need a new home for /r/Cricket sooner or later.
Many might not know, but the developers of Lemmy are communist tankies - and i'm not joking - that spread propagranda and misinformation. They for example deny the genocide of the Uighurs in China as it is a "hoax perpetated by the western propagandists"....
On Reddit, communities could have their own wikis or knowledge base articles in a separate place from where the discussion happened. I don't see that kind of functionality in Kbin, so I'm wondering if there is a federated wiki type of thing somewhere out there.
So I notice that KBIN and BEEHAW and LEMMY all have duplicate pages dedicated to the same content. Are we as a community going to have to decide which page will be the 'main' page, will we have to subscribe to each magazine for each instance, or will they consolidate eventually?...
I'm not saying that Kbin shouldn't be federated, I'm just sad that other instances in the fediverse are so much more hostile and open to spreading hate.
i had my profile all cute and customized and came back to see it a mess of html that wasn't being rendered anymore, even tho it previously was. anyone know why? will we no longer be able to use html in profiles anymore? ☹
A ton of moderators have been making changes to their subreddits' rules (e.g., only allowing certain posts, going NSFW, loosening rules a ton) to protest without getting kicked out. Do you think this strategy of turning a subreddit into shitposts is effective or not?...
I think trying to protest reddit's asshattery via the blackouts is one tactic, but it appears to be losing a lot of steam for many misinformed reasons. I’m betting there’s a lot of shilling as well....
It might be a good idea to have comment replies turned on by default, I feel like it'll help drive discussion/engagement but that's ultimately up to the devs
Is PHP still a relevant language in today's day and age? I know a LOT of languages and it just never occurred to me to learn this one, because anyone I've ever been aware of writing a backend these days would either choose Node or one of several compiled languages. Lemmy uses Rust for it's backend which is highly desireable,...
I'm getting really tired of trying to run away from big tech, only to be ensnared again by the greed and/or naivety of sites who ultimately cave to the whims of big tech....
thanks for /m/Cricket!

I'm happy to have a Lemmy-alternative like Kbin

Fun with frames (Pony Events) „Chicken on a Stick“
Fun with frames in Pony Events Discord!
Since Kbin activated federation with the rest of fediverse I've started seeing more and more hate.
I'm not saying that Kbin shouldn't be federated, I'm just sad that other instances in the fediverse are so much more hostile and open to spreading hate.
why doesnt html work in profiles/bios anymore? i was having so much fun 😭

What do you think of subreddits protesting with rule changes (e.g., only allowing John Oliver)?

Shitposting is the ultimate form of free speech.

Why is /kbin federation with Lemmy and Mastodon usually broken?
Just wanted to ask.
Maybe we should go after reddit’s investors and advertisers…

I just noticed that notifications for replies to comments/posts are disabled by default, to enable them you just need to go to your settings and check the relevant boxes

Why do I not recieve notifications when someone upvotes or comments on my thread? If this is not yet actually possible, @ernest please consider implementing this when you see this.
I only get notifications when somone DMs me, but when I make a post and people upvote/comment on it, I get no notification whatsoever....
Stupid Question, not an insult: Why is kbin written in PHP?

What if Reddit joined the Fediverse?
So I have thoughts about what if platforms that we seemly are trying to move away from such as Reddit decided to Fedirate and join the Fediverse....

I noticed that he is the moderator of this community and many others, such as:...
Let's say the worst case scenario happens with kbin and Meta. What are some alternate sites/instances that would be more resilient to enshitification?

Why is kbin android app not in F-droid?
Kbin is open source. Surely the android app should be as well?
Kbin VS Reddit - Which site is better?
Lets say you found out about both of the sites for the first time together. Which one would you realistically use and why?
OC Potentially unpopular opinion: It may be time to close registrations (temporarily).
