I'm currently building a test setup for streaming with #ices and #icecast in order to improve the docs and I had to dig up an old OGG Vorbis file to test it with and now you get to enjoy this ancient gem, too!
This is the almost illegally good theme song of MTP Target, a FOSS game from 15-ish years ago.
In my #foobar2000 radio playlist, I have streams served by a basic #Icecast setup, and some served by a "fancy", distributed #internetRadio service which claims to connect listeners to their nearest edge location for better latency. Which ones do you think have faster playback starts? Hint: it's not the latter, even when the basic Icecast servers are thousands of miles away.
I am programming in #commonlisp to play random songs from a large mp3/flac collection.
It works fine in the REPL, but when I use it with #icecast it runs the program fresh each time.
You might see where I'm going. The naive random function must be deterministic so even though there is a series of random calls i am making to narrow down the choice, the choice is always teh same when the program is ran the 1st time.

I step out of emergency dental surgery (a toot for another day), and jump back into learning more about #icecast and #funkwhale. I immediately receive notification from nameless site, which alerts me to my friend leaving this very crucial comment on another friends post regarding #SpotifyWrapped and their underpayment of #musicians:

On Sunday, I went on a technical adventure and ended up spending most of the day trying to get the audio from my phone to play from my home stereo speakers.
If I can sell off a few other things I no longer need, including my old desktop computer, I might put a stereo guitar amp and DJ mixer on layaway, too.
I've been playing my guitars more and more, and trying to record some stuff but, I only have a bass amp and 2ch EQ. It doesn't sound [i]bad[/i] by any means but, I want my guitar to sound very much like a guitar rather than a small bass. 🤪

I've been planning on some Internet radio stations for the last few years. Including how to do a proper internship program.
Along with some local venues for shows and club nights. Those would be livestreamed via #icecast and @peertube using #libretime, @mixxx, and other #freesoftware, and recorded if the band wants to press DVDs or CDs.
COVID and terrible day jobs really set me back but, things are looking better than ever so I think I'll be accomplishing my goals soon enough.
