Browsing https://alternativeto.net/software/strawberry/ because I was thinking about starting an audio player project again.

There are so many half-done or abandoned players, I don't want to add to that pile.

Tried Audacious on macOS (I'm at work); crashed immediately when I enabled the "Mac Media Keys" plugin. 😆

Not sure why I'm dissatisfied with Strawberry, it mostly works fine for me. 🤷

LOL now I remember, Strawberry just crashed in the middle of playing a song. Not sure if the song is corrupted, encoded weirdly, or if there's some other issue at work.

In my radio playlist, I have streams served by a basic setup, and some served by a "fancy", distributed service which claims to connect listeners to their nearest edge location for better latency. Which ones do you think have faster playback starts? Hint: it's not the latter, even when the basic Icecast servers are thousands of miles away.

Looking for a good audio player that has Coverflow and timed lyrics

I'm switching from foobar2000, which doesn't support Linux. I've been using EndeavourOS on my laptop for months now and it's been pretty good, and now that my Windows PC constantly shuts down when I sleep and the default settings app crashes, I'm planning to switch my Windows PC to Arch too. For those who don't already use it, is basically the best single file media player around. Completely free, very mature and stable, super configurable, and the latest nightly builds are making it better and better. We've come a long way since the days of WinAMP, my friends.
