The sign of an impending summer: the first bluebottle (Calliphora vomitoria) buzzing around the house.
At least, it gives some entertainment for #Gruoch. She is jumping about, snapping at the fly. It appears that dogs find the noise as annoying as humans. 😃
Parked the car at the retail park, and then took #Gruoch for a walk. When we returned a car was parking next to our car. However, it parked on the white line nearest to our car.
There wasn't enough room to even get in the sliding door. Gruoch and I both glowered at the driver of the other car as she was leaving. This was enough for her to realise what she had done. She got back in her car, and parked properly this time. 😃
To-day, when we were heading to the #DogWalk we went down the ploughed & salted glen road. It was easier to walk there than the deep snow on the verges.
As we were walking down, a large 4x4 tooted at us to get out of the way.
5 mins later, we caught up with the 4x4. It was stuck in the snow on the first uphill section. I offered them my "husky" to pull them up.
Later, we found the 4x4 abandoned at the bottom of the hill.
On to-day's dog walk, #Gruoch stuck her muzzle into a clump of grass, as she is wont to do, hundreds of times every day. Suddenly, her head swivelled around and she threw out a vole (Microtus agrestis).
The vole hit me square in the face. To say I was surprised would be putting it mildly. I'm sure the vole was quite surprised, too.
The vole scurried off, and hid in another clump of grass.
When driving home to-night, I noticed that #Gruoch likes looking at houses with bright Christmas lights. As I drove past the houses her gaze would be fixed at one position and her head would move from left to right.
If you are looking for nice place for a #DogWalk, in the south of Edinburgh, I can heartily recommend Gore Glen Woodland Park. It is just south of Newtongrange. and not far from the City Bypass.
We also had a #DogWalk here, in much more posh surroundings.
This is Newbattle Abbey, which is now a college and conference centre. The building and grounds have been kept in the manner of a stately home (which it once was). The grounds are open to the public, and the river & woodland walks were very popular with dog walkers.
#Gruoch was barking at something in the garden. Upon investigation I discovered this chap(ess) sitting on the garden fence.
I know, I know, Grey Squirrels are two a penny in the city. However, still nice when they come to the garden. Not his/her fault they are an invasive species.

Indeed. The squirrel was very complacent. Although, it was originally on the shed roof, and, therefore, out of reach of #Gruoch. It moved to the fence for the photo. 😃
