I've realised that I most enjoy being surrounded by those who make tools for #fandom, & who have fucking amazing ideas for fandom, & want to protect fandom & ensure its longevity. Coders, admins, archivists, historians, academics, mods, event organisers, commentators...etc...etc...
All of this is as much #fanwork as is writing or art, & I'm a fan of it. I feel more at home in this part of fandom than I ever do in a spn groupchat (not a high bar, spn fandom is a trashfire).
Thanks to this Transformers zine project I’m involved with, I ended up getting up in the middle of the night to spend over an hour rereading my own very old fanfic. It was not especially well-written but boy did it have a lot of feelings.
A thread of my Fandom Elder Izzy memes. Expect profanities 😈
So far there are 18 of these, but if the inspiration hits, I might make more at some point. For many of these, I owe thanks to Lux (https://luxbeatrice.carrd.co) for being my muse.
Somebody should create something like an action plan of getting #fandom people on fedi... I'm not going to be that person bc project management gives me anxiety but there has to be somebody out there who knows how to do this stuff and actually likes doing it, right?
I would definitely take over some regular tasks as long as I don't have to organize everything...
i'm a fanfic writer and gif maker, i've been in fandom spaces for 15+ years, hoping to make more fandom friends. you can find me on tumblr + ao3 @ commanderogerss.
I realize this may seem obvious but from what I’ve seen on lives, some people have difficulty with this, and I’m trying not to be a jerk about it, so:
It’s okay to be sad that two artists whom you are used to collaborating together, stopped. It’s okay to have an emotional reaction when your faves break up.
From idols groups, to acting ships, to a world famous dancing duo who were openly a couple, quietly breaking up, personally and professionally.
This tweet got me LOL because it's so true. If you say out loud that these traffic/idol actors are less than perfect, it's like drawing a bullseye on your tweet for the superfans to come out of the weeds and eat you alive.
Predictably this poster got lots of hatred as a result, but she's amused about it.
This is one thing I cant stand about fandom. I often have to censor myself as I do not have the mood to deal with these parasocial superfans.
Honestly I miss old fandom spaces. It feels like all the old ones like tumblr n twitter are slowly dying.
Which u know is fine, nothing last forever and all that. But nothing else has taken their places.
:blobCatOhNo: #fandom
