When I was a teenager, I could pull a transmission and replace a clutch and at the drop of a hat. Now, not so much ... not that I would want to do that anymore. Just a few years ago, I had a taillight go out on my car and I couldn't figure out how to get to the taillight, so I ended up taking it to the dealer. Not only did automotive technology advance without me, but my desire to do such things waned out of existence.
I've had my current car for eight years and keep telling myself I need a new car for travel. But my car still runs pretty well, and I don't drive it much anyway, so it's really hard to get new car fever. Besides, I hate the process of buying a new car it's a pain in an area at the lower half of my torso. It's something on my things to do tomorrow list.

We still have a land line telephone, though we both have cell phones as well. The home phone is inundated with calls from telemarketers, which is annoying at best. I get the idea, that it's a job for somebody, but I don't entertain the idea of doing any business, I didn't initiate, with strangers over the telephone. Another weird thing is that often when we answer the phone and say hello, there is nothing from the other end - quiet. Lately, I've taken up a tactic that I use when I don't recognize a number and I get a call ID description of wireless caller or out of area. I answer the phone as:" Alfred's Unicycle Universe."

Quand la nuit arrive, je ressens toujours la même sensation.
Qu'ai-je fait aujourd'hui ? Capturer des photos ? Des vidéos ? Ramasser du plastique ? Cela ne me suffit pas. J'ai besoin de changer le monde. J'ai besoin de me faire entendre. J'ai besoin d'être compris. Je n'ai plus envie d'être seul.
Toujours la même sensation : le non-accomplissement.

Lors de ma première exploration de l'île de Basse-Terre en solo, je découvrais la plus belle plage que j'ai eu l'occasion d'arpenter jusqu'à présent. Belle, mais dangereuse. Les vagues de la plage de Clugny y sont si fortes que chaque année des personnes y laissent leurs vies.
