NWS Climate Prediction Center: Hot, summer-like temperatures are expected to impact parts of the Gulf Coast states during the second week of May, with many locations possibly reaching record highs in the low to mid 90s May 8-10.#heatwave#gulfcoast#heat#wx#climate#TXwx#LAwx#ALwx#GAwx#SCwx#FLwx
Did everyone in Alabama suddenly become an LSU fan? Nope. That's a Freeze Warning from the National Weather Service. The light blue parts are not Miami Dolphins fans, but Freeze Watches. #ALwx#freeze
BakersRelay off for the night. #TNwx and #ALwx still have at least an hour or two to watch out for severe weather. Those of you following the #SouthFire should follow the hashtag and/or WatchDuty app for further updates.
Be safe, be prepared, be weather aware. Catch you tomorrow morning.
From Dr Reed Timmer on YouTube: Live storm chasing returns Monday afternoon and overnight with #Tornado potential returning to Dixie alley. I would not be surprised if this is upgraded to an enhanced risk.
I'll try collecting and posting another #weathercam thread of live cams of the storm-affected areas in between my work day as I can. Here is a #LiveCam in Fort Lauderdale:
"The short-fused Moderate Risk with the Special update this morning has been dialed back a bit as the primary feature, the MCS over northern MS/AL has bowed out and is now aligned perpendicular to the flow, a pattern that should keep flooding potential associated directly therewith to a minimum. However, in those areas where heavy rains move over areas hit hard just a few hours ago by training convection across north-central AL, renewed flash flooding is possible."
