In “Passin’ Me By,” The Pharcyde refer to the aphorism of someone being “out of your league”—no matter how much you long for someone, it doesn’t mean that your wish will come true.
The song is the second single from The Pharcyde’s debut album, Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde.
It peaked at #1 on the Hot Rap Singles, #52 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #28 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks charts in the spring of 1993. Later, Pitchfork Media included the song at #41 on their Top 200 Tracks of the 90’s.
Currently sitting at #52 on Whale Cup mahjong qualifiers, top 64 advance. May or may not be safe, still time for people to overtake me. Wondering if it’s worth trying to continue grinding to improve my score, but it’s proving difficult to beat my +39 so far.
Who put this, Splatfest, and UNI2 locals all on the same weekend?
Until now, development has proceeded pretty loosely - we work on whatever seems cool at the time. This is fine but if we collaborate on a decision about priorities then perhaps we'll all be pulling in the same direction a bit more often. If the decision is made in public with all stakeholders, perhaps we'll get some buy-in....
Federating from local communities #4. You have this as #22, but I've never seen any problem with signatures. I'm subscribed to /c/playground from a server that just dumps out activity into a file, without even checking the signature, so I'd say it's a problem of not being sent at all (I see the activity from local users, but not from remote users). I've had success in test environments for this, but not piefed.social.
Improving error messages #24. More get_requests should be surrounded by 'try ... except', so it doesn't crash / say 'oops, something has gone wrong' if, for example, you enter an unresolvable domain in that form.
Subscribe to anything #20 is something people want.
Mitigate impersonation attempts (related to #52). Piefed doesn't currently check that the domain in the id and the actor's domain match. See this post, where the 'original on lemmon.website' points to a bbc news article. Technically, communities can announce anything - we can check that it is the community actually sending it, but not whether what it announces actually happened. Matching domains helps, so users can verify for themselves.
I need to investigate setting up piefed in production, partly because I keep blowing through my ngrok quota, but mostly because many of the Issues on codeberg don't become apparent or relevant in testing.
I agree with you that getting the fundamentals right for what is currently here is way more important than trying to change it into something else (i.e. do a few things well, rather than lots of things badly)
Not sure why Ishura and Solo Leveling jumped 30 something places between last week and this.
Ishura, I hear the plot has finally passed the character intros, and we’re into the conflict and backstabbing part.
Really not sure about Solo Leveling. I asked the chart maker and they said it was #52 last week.
Conversely on the MAL+Anilist chart, Ishura is nowhere to be found.
I believe in the English-speaking world, this show doesn’t have a built-in audience that has read the manga. The show took too long to build a TV audience, and therefore it won’t recover.
I have, belatedly, realised that my #Rust#XML parser needs to use dynamic dispatch, because the character encoding can only be determined at runtime. Which means all of my rigidly static generic structs need to have dynamic equivalents. But I want to keep the static generic versions too, so that (for example) a JSON parser can be built from them (JSON is always UTF-8 so no need for runtime determination).
The dynamic/static files are almost identical. Any way to avoid duplication?
Dragon Magazine #52, August 1981. The first issue I ever bought, with Faerie Dragon cover art by #BorisVallejo. There's a great article in this issue concerning the differences between the Holmes Basic and Moldvay Basic rules, by Holmes and Moldvay, respectively.
#PrinceHitstory: On this day in 1983 @warnerrecords & #Prince ᗡnɒ Ǝ⑁ɟ Иoiɟu⅃ovƎɿ released "Let's Pretend We're Married” 12-inch. The song would hit #52 on @billboard & helped @prince's 5th album “1999” sell over 5 million copies!
I’m an instructor of beginner photographers. On Sunday, I send an email with tips, tricks, articles, pictures, etc. Bits of info I think students can use. It’s for both “regular” camera users and those who shoot with smartphones.
There’s mention of things to do where I am, but it’s mostly for beginning #photography students to help them take better photos - It's NOT for advanced shooters. 😃

> I know that skybridge.fly.dev is a development server and may not be always available but I noted that over the last couple of days, posts have not been available. Is this a temporary issue?
Inspired by time spent in a remote village, the generation of some of the images in live view resembles plant growth on a piece of earth in time lapse.
Some end-of-the-year #PennedPossibilities#52: Write about your MC's favorite song/musical piece. Why is it their favorite?
Theo: Everybody Wants To Rule The World by Tears for Fears. "Songs From The Big Chair" was one of his mother's favorite albums, and when he ran away from home, it was one of the very few things that he took with him, and mostly just to have something to listen to on the bus. The themes of the song resonated with him, and now it's his favorite. He plays it when he's feeling depressed.
Queen, Super70s, and ReHeardle were never heardled by me before 😴, UK charts?
I love the 1HW song, but not a Hope in Hell, remembering the name of the artist. Plus, it's not suitable for public play 😞 NSFW
I was close to picking it on the first note, but there were so many copied riffs and intros that I waited..
