Severance and silo sucks .

I thought i shouldn’t make two posts but put both of em in one cause that’s more acknowledgement than what they deserve . So my reasons are the boths choke full of plot holes, lets do silo first : on one episode you need a long time two travel inside the silo then on another its not a problem at all , Characters are dumb as fuck and does not think of foul play at all if, i was in the silo with no memory i would be paranoid as fuck and i’m pretty sure everyone would be too . Society would never thrive like it does in the show, not with a ruling like that anyway like did everyone just think okay we will just obay the government or whatever it is they got going on there even tho we have no power to inspect or question their decision or work ? Like its obvious from the birth control thing that they are under tough ruling and yet there are no rebels, conspiracy theorists , public unease or anything . Do they all believe the camera feed is exactly what it is like outside ? Like fuckin hell how brain dead are they ? Also there seem to be a flickering on the screen and no one notices or have any problem .

Lets do severance now : The show starts by flipping off everyone’s patience and depends on Apples simps to hype it up and reccomend it . Doesn’t draw you in at all even with the interesting as fuck premise . Like just what is the consequence if you stop working just tell us that but no the co workers can’t spare a sec to tell the new lady that even tho it will take 10sec, fuck you i’m all for slow burns but this is just baiting the thin plot you have to make people watch more . The show tries to bring in comedy where it has no place being . I wish i could watch more to say more shit about it but if i try to watch both of em i feel like throwing up i don’t know why they are as acclaimed as they are .

I haven’t seen Silo, but I thought Severance was one of the best shows I’ve seen in years! That and Foundation are actually the only reasons I keep my Apple TV subscription since most of Apples content isn’t that great. Why would they tell anyone the consequences of not working up front? Wouldn’t that just start some kind of mass revolt on day 1? Yeah it’s a slow burn, but the plot twists are pretty major and pretty frequent which kept me on the edge of my seat for the whole thing! I didn’t think the plot was all that thin either, since they really dig deep into the backstory albeit in flashbacks mostly.

That was my take on it anyway, everyone is entitled to their opinion!

Legend,

I was talkin about the co workers

As was I! That seemed to be the whole point that they don’t learn about the consequences until they’re already somewhat indoctrinated

Legend,

Wdym why can’t the co workers tell the new lady ?

MrJameGumb,
@MrJameGumb@lemmy.world avatar

Because they’re already indoctrinated so it goes against their nature to say anything against the company until the last possible point where it can’t be ignored anymore. It seemed like a major plot point of the first half of the season was that no one is supposed to talk about what happens if someone disobeys. It’s meant to build suspense as the audience try to imagine what the consequences could possibly be.

Legend,

So the exact thing I said ? Baiting the plot .

Do you mean developing the plot and adding suspense to the story? Because that’s what it did for me lol

Legend,

No I didn’t mean that .

QualifiedKitten,

Your writing style is very challenging for me to understand. I’ve never heard of Silo, but I enjoyed Severance, so maybe I should check out Silo?

Legend,

Yeah I subconsciously held out on fullstops for some reasons but I have now manually added some .

Silo was really good. Never heard about it until the show. Blew through the books after the show ended. Can’t wait for the next season.

I_Fart_Glitter,

I thought they both were pretty good. I can’t read that block of spelling errors and no punctuation, but Silo does have a few areas where you must suspend judgement and accept that this is fiction and this is how things work in this fictional world. I don’t know why people have such a hard time with that.

QualifiedKitten,

Yeah, I’m having trouble thinking of any show I’ve enjoyed that doesn’t have some amount of plot holes if we insist everything has to be 100% true to the reality we’re currently experiencing.

My review of your review:

“Needs more punctuation.”

Legend,

Added more. Idk why i held out on fullstops 🤷 .

stanleytweedle,

Your review ‘style’ tells me these shows weren’t really meant for you.

Legend,

Woah please do enlighten me as you clearly are a know it all.

stanleytweedle,

I already did ;)
