On the other hand, I do appreciate that account sign-up is now possible from your onion site directly. Does it also work without phone number, existing e-mail address, or payment? I don't want to create an actual account just to try. :)
It should also be possible to set up an account over Tor with just a Captcha verification, rather than email or SMS. Admittedly this is less likely on Tor because of anti-abuse measures, however, not impossible. Generating a new Tor circuit or identity may help here.
@protonmail@zorc Wouldn't it also be better to use something such as Qubes OS with a ton of RAM, and buy a VPS to host your own e-mail service, proxied through multiple Tor Relays? I mean, Proton AG is still subject to subpoenas; a person running their own safe-locked e-mail service is definitely safer.
