@SFRuminations For our literature reading group, I'm reading Bradbury, his greatest classic, for the first time in decades. I had completely forgotten how easily his prose flows, how rich and poetic his style is. I find it remarkable that a novel that I'm sure most people considered "standard" SF fodder at the time now conveys such an artistic and sophisticated impression. Such novels are very rare today, because writing and reading habits in genre literature have become very "netflixed". What's more, while I'm reading it, I keep seeing the great Oskar Werner in front of me, a sad acting genius who died far too young. After reading the novel, I will definitely watch the Truffeaut film again.

@MSchneiberg I remember enjoying both the book and the film. Feel free to join the community on the site! That's my primary forum for SF discussion.

I have reviewed a few Bradbury shorts in the last year or so. My slow and late return to his work.

“Almost the End of the World” (1957) https://sciencefictionruminations.com/2022/10/10/future-media-short-story-review-ray-bradburys-almost-the-end-of-the-world-1957/

@SFRuminations Maybe I will, thanks for the tip. Is there a particular reason why you set 1985 as the cut-off point? Or is that more or less arbitrary?

@SFRuminations read „camp concertation” many years ago. It’s one of the books that stays with you. Here the cover of the German edition.
