@daringfireball this is so far past the mere suggestion of impartiality. how are these clowns not recusing? clearly lifetime appointments of 9 king makers is a bad idea
@nickclements Alito is the most dangerous right winger of the bunch, but he doesn't take bribes like Clarence Thomas does, so he lives on the modest SCOTUS salary.
@daringfireball Insulting the intelligence of the country that it was about a personal spat (and even if that were true then not taking ownership of how childish it is but instead taking aim at the "objectionable" neighbors) is just as bad as flying the flag upside down itself in terms of the illegitimacy of this court. I really didn't know this about Alito. I knew he was an ardent conservative. But to have such lack of character—what has happened or not happened in people's lives to reach the highest echelons and yet constantly be aggrieved and in the right? To blame the neighbor! To have no personal responsibility even for this when you're on the Supreme Court. "I can't control my behavior because a neighbor did a mean thing." I don't think that's what happened, but say it did: That's when the Supreme Court just becomes an untenable institution.
@swingerofbirch I disagree vehemently with all the Republicans on the Court, but Thomas and Alito are in worlds of their own. Thomas for his abject corruption, Alito for being the de facto leader of the bunch and a rightwing fascist sociopath.
@gruber@swingerofbirch both justices should recuse themselves as they are both involved in trying to overturn the 2020 election. The justices should not be politically involved on any way.
