@arcana planned obsolescence is still a function of the market.

building something perfect that never needs repairs gets you paid once, but you have to pay for food daily. thus the optimal outcome is to either 1) rent seek, or 2) spike the product however hard people will put up with, so you keep getting paid.

@icedquinn @arcana the logic of “given someone what they want is bad for business” just doesn’t hold generally under competition. Restaurants will still need to feed you, cinemas will still need to show you the full movie.
