@redhero I think too often we are made to fight for scraps while the real problem is why is all the space for cars ?
Why don't we have like 3 bike lanes each way ?

@pucetrailblazer @fetchezlavache I just found two articles on my blog from 2012 and 2015 about revisions to cycling laws that would see two time offenders attending training courses after receiving “red card”. Nothing became of that, nothing will come of this. Yearly revisions to laws that are rarely enforced are only good for slow news days.

@FlockOfCats @pucetrailblazer @fetchezlavache Pretty much all offenses are overlooked, and while it’s not a popular opinion I believe if people are cycling safely but breaking a law (I.e. cycling on a sidewalk where it is prohibited without being an ass) they don’t deserve to be hassled. I think the cops also can’t be bothered with these cases. But when something REALLY serious occurs they’ll throw the book at you, and the book just got thicker and heavier.

@FlockOfCats @pucetrailblazer @fetchezlavache Really every new law, every nonsensical crackdown, unnecessary helmet laws etc. will just drive more people away from cycling and that’s a shame because the bicycle is such an important mode of transport for millions every day.

Few people in power understand how essential cycling is for families nor the wide ranging impact of making it more restrictive.
