Not an improvement but arguably not a great loss. Loss of media pluralism is worrying, but in this particular case, who's watching free-to-air TV at midday these days anyway?

> Correct. I just want to turn on the TV
So the problem is not so much that TVNZ isn't making a midday news report, but rather that you struggle to get your (presumably digital and net-connected) TV to play an up-to-date news report at midday (your time)?
@jackyan
Sorry if it seems like I'm splitting hairs or interrogating you (or just boring you). I'm just trying to deepen my understanding of how and why these big changes in news affect people. So I can factor it in when brainstorming potential bottom-up solutions.
@strypey It did a bit mate! I donʼt want effort. My thinking probably is: if itʼs a show Iʼm really into, I donʼt mind investing the time into finding it. But the news isnʼt like that for me. I want the least effort, turn on the TV, and itʼs there. Once I have to hunt for it, then itʼs no longer relaxing viewing.
@strypey The problem is both. If they made it, Iʼd watch it, which was the original point. Iʼm sure you were alive when this was what everyone did, so this isnʼt exactly a stretch of the imagination. Call me lazy.
