@idoubtit I will not encourage anyone to do this, but will simply say that I grew up drinking raw milk. We never used milk from cows that had mastitis or other diseases. I never had any health issues, nor did anyone I know.
Yes, I am aware that raw milk may contain dangerous pathogens. If anything, I am trying to say that this is not a black-and-white issue. There are safe(r) and unsafe ways to handle and drink raw milk.
@idoubtit In the article you linked to, people are advocating drinking raw milk from cows that are known to carry a dangerous virus. Clearly not a good idea. You shouldn't trust a random mammal's immune system more than your own. Yes, milk can contain antibodies to certain pathogens, but it doesn't work like this.
@escott@merileedkarr It’s inappropriate to condense this problem in this way. People are given misinformation about drinking raw milk, that it’s beneficial to drink and the warning about harm is lies. Upon close inspection, it has more to do with politics than evolution.
