Fascinating piece of US culture: if you have an American flag sticker, t-shirt, hat, etc you are almost certainly a huge asshole. And there are even special variations of the flag (eg thin blue line) to let people know specifically what kind of asshole you are

@danirabbit for almost my whole life, until just a few years ago, this did not seem to be the case in Canada. The flag was a global symbol of kindness and understanding.

And then a bunch of shitstains ruined it.

(Although, being that the whole country is founded on colonialism, the "global symbol of kindness and understanding" bit was also mostly a lie.)

@danirabbit
France might be a bad example here 👀

@lobau haha yeah I’ve learned today that it’s the same almost everywhere 😂

@danirabbit

I'm trying not to be an asshole, but I slip up sometimes.

@swope haha okay you may have found an exception to the rule 😂

Does that happen in other countries? Like if you live in France do you see someone with a French flag sticker on their Vespa and you know, “Ee fucking hates Mexicans”

@danirabbit french flag, if not used during a soccer event, basically means you're a fucking fascist yep. And you can hear them say "how come Algerians can love their country and I can't ?". 💀
