I am currently loving this Micke desk from IKEA. It's just spill proof I think. I don't know anything about carpentry, but the way the entire thing is coated makes spills really easy to wipe off with cloth. Stains are also easily wiped away with just a bit of water.
It's also very sturdy and doesn't easily shake when I bump into it.
@miffens I'm not entirely sure, this is the only table I'd been eyeing on. But it's matte, so liquids don't seep through the paint, but they clump together more so it's easier to just wipe it.
