Hey #ZFS people, do you know of any good services that can be used to backup zfs snapshots to?

Lalufu,

@ainmosni You mean without a ZFS on the other end, just the file?
Note that the byte stream produced by zfs send is not designed for long term storage, it contains very little in the sense of internal redundancy or checksums for the stream.

@Lalufu I want an endpoint that I can use sanoid/syncoid on.

Lalufu,

@ainmosni rsync.net is the only service I am aware of that offers zfs send/receive natively.

There are some challenges with this if you want encryption, native zfs encryption has known problems, and a lot of them in conjunction with snapshots and sending/receiving them.

Personally I use borg/restic for off-site-ing backups, and zfs snapshots are only a local measure.

@Lalufu Yeah, borg/restic is my go-to as well, but I was just curious if syncoid could be a good alternative.
