Close-up view.

@tml Nice to see the creepy crawling babies are still creepily crawling!

The close up is especially great too.

(Reminds me of the time @andy @jimmac @hbons and I all met up in Prague years ago. We walked by the tower a few times and snapped some photos. None that nice and close, however.)

@garrett @tml @andy @jimmac good times.

@garrett @tml @andy @jimmac also I believe @andreasn was even there! :)

Another close-up, this one I composed a bit more carefully.

Anybody recognise this clock? You can see through the building through the clock face.

It’s this. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_of_the_Most_Sacred_Heart_of_Our_Lord

Very very nice, architecturally. (Not a religious person.)

By the same architect that originally designed that “tea house”, part of Tito’s villa by Lake Bled, now a cafe, that I visited some weeks ago.

The surrounding were being worked on but from the drone one got nice shots.

@tml Oh Jože Plečnik is amazing, even if he did design rather too many religious buildings for my taste! His library in Ljubljana is super, and the museum about his work - also in Ljubljana - is worth a visit if you’ve never been.

@jon @tml i have been told by a friend the jiriho z podebrad church is basically a toilet seat if you look at the basic outline

@jon@gruene.social avatar

@pony I am fine with that view of religion 🙂 @tml

@jon it’s fun, I had never heard of him previously. But then I happened to read a book (https://www.standard.co.uk/culture/books/last-days-in-old-europe-by-richard-bassett-review-a4041611.html , recommended) where he was mentioned some month ago, and now then I come across his buildings a few times during a month’s travel.

@tml A church he built in the edge of Beograd is peculiar and interesting too. Add that on a subsequent trip!

I even made a Geoguessr of his works https://www.geoguessr.com/maps/60196eb274f4320001020e0b and it was my partner who first alerted me to his work

And I think given how much I like both Czechia and Slovenia that I’d stumble across it works is rather likely, and I imagine the same for you!
