And there's so much to delight in the Discworld, but it is raining outside & when I am out in the rain I always think of Granny Weatherwax, refusing to hunch up & just moving through it.
I've never managed to avoid getting drenched without aid. Indeed, when dashing out to the bins in a downpour I will wear the umbrella hat we mysteriously own & deep down I think she would approve of the pragmatism of the decision.

@greenpete@eclectech Nanny Ogg is, in the words of her best friend Granny Weatherwax, a “disgusting old baggage”. She’s foul-mouthed, filthy-minded, given to getting hammered and singing traditional songs of the more, ah, “rural” kind (e.g. the legendary “Hedgehog Song”), sharp as a tack, decent and kind, and one of the most powerful witches on the Disc. She’s a classic Pratchett character, and every fan adores her. (She is upstaged occasionally by her horrible foul-smelling cat, Greebo.)
@greenpete Oh she is SO much more than that! One of my favourite lines about her is “Nanny Ogg knew how to start spelling 'banana', but didn't know how you stopped."
The Discworld books are EXCELLENT. Funny, wise, thoughtful.
