What the hell. The 737 MAX series seems to be very poorly designed, with a LOT of cut corners. I think whatever trust the FAA representatives have deemed appropriate to delegate to Boeing for self-certification needs to be revoked immediately. There should be an audit of all the designs that were not directly examined by the FAA representative for standards compliance and fault analysis.

The gall of Boeing to ask for an exemption from safety standards. I hope the FAA tells them to kindly go fuck themselves.

And lest your bias cloud your judgment, replace the name “Boeing” with say, a China-domestic aircraft manufacturer that has this defect (also remember the auto-trim system that caused two planes to crash 5 years ago, killing all their passengers). What would your opinion be on such an aircraft?

@drahardja I always check for which plane will be flying a certain flight so I can avoid the MAX. I luckily don't fly a lot of domestic flights.

@drahardja oh it’s worse than that. The SF Chronicle’s article mentions two other issues that airlines and pilots were advised about over the last year. One just last month about a possible loose bolt in the rudder control system, which seems … idk, kinda important?
