The worst thing about console gaming is how, at every generation, Sony and Microsoft promise that every game will run at 60fps but then, inevitably, games get released which top out at 30fps.

@atomicpoet I blame human nature. We always push the limit, & race ahead of where we can be, to see where we can go. Realistically, games should look a generation or two older right now, but be running on current tech. Basically Nintendo games as they are, running on PS5s.

Some gamers inexplicably call gorgeous games "last gen" or "ps2 visuals", so devs keep pushing the hardware to the brink instead of relishing the extra "bandwidth" (of power, etc.) afforded them.

@atomicpoet don’t many new games have a “performance/prettiness” setting now days? Or is that just a select few?

I seem to remember that mentioned in a few reviews. (I don’t have a modern Xbox or PSn)

@chadgeidel I’m just saying that certain console games, like Redfall, top out at 30fps. A higher framerate is not an option.
