@schwa Alistair Cockburn used to tell a story about a manager at Apple (I think it was him) who would ask people "what are you going to contribute to this meeting" and then excuse 1/3- 1/2 of the scheduled attendees
@schwa it’s when they forget to turn off ‘allow time suggstions’ on the OOO/Dr and say ‘this time doens’t work for me, can you do [random other thing].
@schwa I found this in groups I worked with in person. We'd stand up from a 10 am meeting and most of us would move to another conference room for our 11 am meeting
@schwa being in Ireland with mostly colleagues on Pacific time works pretty well to keep this at bay. All day to actually get stuff done, and just a short window of time for meetings before my eod.
@schwa Sounds like folks there don’t know how to use their calendar? Why would they invite you to their OOO?
If you cared you’d subscribe to their calendar or something.
@schwa Doesn't have to be that way - we are 100% virtual and I have exactly 2 recurring 30 minute meetings per week. Apart from that, i might have 1-2 adhoc calls.
