Arnold Schwarzenegger: 'No one gives a s--- about' climate change — this is what it should be called instead

>"As long as they keep talking about global climate change, they are not gonna go anywhere. 'Cause no one gives a s--- about that," Arnold Schwarzenegger says.

His heart may be in the right place but i remember when it WAS called "pollution" and the right/GOP didn't GAF about it then either, if it was up to them, the Cuyahoga River would still be on fire

@pivoinebleue And a lot of people who claim to care about climate change seem to stop caring rather quickly when they realize solutions will require wrenching lifestyle change, not merely buying an EV.

@pivoinebleue Labeling is important. Think how people who are concerned about climate change are labeled socialists and tree huggers. Pollution is something that is more readily visible and tangible for people. But there also needs to be labeling for those who oppose stopping pollution. Make the enemy tangible and easy to remember. If this isn't done, the changes won't come quick enough.

@pivoinebleue Arnie's not the brightest bulb in the onion patch, and tho many say he's good at heart, the world is in just as much danger from the well-meaning but stupid as the ill-intentioned bumblefucks.

@pivoinebleue 1) As a person who works on this stuff all day, one of my least favorite social change arguments is “if we only called it X, everything would change”

  1. But… he has a point. We don’t talk nearly enough about air pollution and its health impacts, and for some segment of people, that story is going to motivate action much more readily than claimed change.

  2. (obligatory caveats about carbon besides air pollution)
