@jon
Your brain-dead vanilla user here: uses Mastodon's native Android app. Knows that there's a website version as well, but never uses it. Never even thought about looking for a dedicated Mastodon software on Linux. (If there's a web interface, why do you need other software?)
@jon I use Moshidon on Mobile and typically Tuba on Desktop. Moshidon is a fork of a fork of the official client that adds a lot of missing features but keeps the great UX of it imo, and Tuba works like a dream, and I would recommend it to anyone using a GNOME Desktop. If you like the advanced interface though idk if it could substitute that layout. Tokodon is good for KDE but it may be simpler than what you want, I see it as a good thing but not everyone will.
@jon Tusky on Android - free, and works well on phone and tablet. Website via Firefox on Windows - it's OK, but I've never really warmed to the multi-pane tweetdeck format.
@jon
Windows + Linux: Web UI (tried a few apps but settled with Web UI + Vimium extension so I have my own keyboard shortcuts. The experience remains consistent between machines.)
@jon I mostly use Elk running in Firefox on a Linux desktop. Elk isn't mature yet, missing some key features, especially in setting preferences, but it's a pleasanter UX than the standard Mastodon web app.
