AI is turning out to be a bust unless you're doing ransom scams, creating malware, disrupting elections with fake videos, cheating on test or a publication misleading readers.
@grumpygamer Feels like Microsoft overplayed their hand a bit, still forcing people to use Edge to access Bing chat. I would use it more, but not giving up Safari on my Mac.
@grumpygamer That is probably good news for OpenAI. An article that recently came across my timeline claimed that they are burning something like $700.000 a day on running their services and are only still alive thanks to those 10 bio they got from Microsoft.
@grumpygamer Totally. We shouldn't use email or the Internet either, as they are flooded with fraud. Computers are just repositories for malware. Phones are only useful for spam callers.
@grumpygamer Do people honestly believe this? Like there exist people who have used it and genuinely believe that the technology is a bust? I get that it's not the magical knowledge engine that some people hyped it to be, but the practical value is extremely apparent if you use it for even a brief period. Anyone who convinces themselves that it's without purpose is deluded, imo.
@grumpygamer It turns out that putting text into a blender doesn’t produce accurate results and whilst companies keep trying to solve it with ever finer sieves, the use of a blender in the first place is the problem. Current AI does succeed in limited creative use cases, it’s good at poetry, for example
