I'm finally caught up on the Microsoft Recall feature coming to Windows 11, and my very first question is who even wants this?
Who has sat there and went "oh yeah, I forgot what I was doing 5 mins ago on my pc and I absolutely cannot spend a few mins thinking about it or pressing the back button to remember" ???

Can anyone point me to a straightforward explainer of what #Microsoft is up to just now with this #Recall thing - in language understandable to the layperson?

Me da a mi que Microsoft le está haciendo el trabajo a Linux para que este aumente su cuota de usuarios.

Das #microsoft#Recall "Feature" ist tatsächlich ein riesiges Desaster aus Benutzer Sicht. Ich konnte das fast nicht glauben, aber dieser Thread hier zeigt deutlich, was tatsächlich dahinter steckt. Spoiler Alert - das hat mit AI mal überhaupt gar nichts zu tun:
Besonders toll finde ich, dass wirklich alles aufgezeichnet wird (Passwörter, verschwindende Nachrichten, nachträglich gelöschte Inhalte) - außer DRM geschützte Inhalte aus Hollywood.
Das Finanzministerium (#lindner, #fdp) wollte die Zahlen für 2023 zunächst geheim halten, doch der Protest war zu groß. Ein Haushaltspolitiker spricht von explodierenden Kosten.
@discoursology@Rainer_Rehak@landesregierung ja und es soll auch gut funktioniert haben. Nur mit den anderen Behörden hat das nicht gut geklappt. Aber heute ist Open Document als Format eigentlich vorgegeben.
