ablackcatstail,

My new open source operating stack consists of , , , , and . Each of these 4 operating systems have their distinct advantages and place. I love the life.

ceresbzns,

@ablackcatstail
What do you use the BSD OS for vs the others?

ablackcatstail,

@ceresbzns I use OpenBSD for security and routing, Mint for my desktop, and FreeBSD for almost all of my services. I use Debian for services that will only run on Linux. Alma Linux is my choice for my free Oracle Cloud server. I like all 4 of the OSes very much.

ceresbzns,

@ablackcatstail
This is an ignorant question but where does one find software that runs on BSD? I don't think I've ever come across it on github. Do you have to compile everything from source?

ablackcatstail,

@ceresbzns FreeBSD and OpenBSD have packaging systems and ports. You can see what is available at freshports.org and openports.pl respectively.
