I mean they basically faught the UN troops back to Pusan before being faught back to the 38th parallel in turn ... leading to another 2 sackings of Seoul. For that matter, was the aim of forcefully reuniting Korea worth 3 Million deaths? The Sovjet invasion of Afghanistan also had like 2 Million dead civilians. The US clearly has no monopoly on causing mega deaths for their political goals.
