Now reading:
14: The Forth Road Bridge - The Official Story (Published by the Forth Road Bridge Joint Board).
It was given to me recently by a elderly engineer friend as something I might find interesting as a bit of history.

#Books #Reading #Bookstodon

Maker_of_Things,

I have finished reading:
14: The Forth Road Bridge - The Official Story.
Interesting booklet, first half was about the building of the bridge, the second half was more tourist information about that area of Scotland.

Now reading:
15: Becky Chambers - Record Of A Spaceborn Few.
I have read the Wayfarer series so many times now!

#Books #Reading #Bookstodon

Maker_of_Things,

I have finished reading:
15: Becky Chambers - Record Of A Spaceborn Few.

Now about to start reading:
16: The Rev. Awdrey - The Railway Series.

The question is, do I list each book as I read it, or treat the whole series as one book? 🤔
Or I could read each one, alternating with something else?

#Books #Reading #Bookstodon

Maker_of_Things,

Right, so I am now reading:
16: The Rev. Awdrey - The Railway Series.
I am listing it as one book to save adding 42 titles to my reading list.

But concurrently I will also be reading:
17: Becky Chambers - The Galaxy And The Ground Within

#Books #Reading #Bookstodon

23: Colin Edmonson - The Story Of The Scamp, The Little Loco With A Big Heart

A fascinating story of design progress and small scale manufacture, and it makes me want to buy and build a Scamp locomotive kit now.

Maker_of_Things,

I am still reading:
28: Helen Czerski - Blue Machine.
It is a wonderful book and well worth reading.

I have finished reading:
26: F.B. Whitehouse - Narrow Gauge Album.
It is an interesting write up of a young man's visits to many of the narrow gauge railways in England, Wales and Ireland. Printed in 1957 I was thinking it is about 50 years old now. Dammit, 66 years old!

I have just started reading:
29: Kate Mascarenhas - Hokey Pokey

#Books #Reading #Bookstodon

Maker_of_Things,

I am still reading:
28: Helen Czerski - Blue Machine.

And:
29: Kate Mascarenhas - Hokey Pokey

I have just started reading:
30: Kevin Robertson - The Leader Locomotive, Bulleid's Great Experiment (revised edition).

Three books concurrently!

#Books #Reading #Bookstodon

Maker_of_Things,

I have finished reading:
28: Helen Czerski - Blue Machine.
An excellent book, not too much hard science (unless you want to go through the references), And even if you think you know about the oceans, there are many more details and, more importantly, connectons to learn about. Fascinating, and worrying, just how much effect human activity has had on the 'Blue Machine'. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
@helenczerski

I am still reading:
29: Kate Mascarenhas - Hokey Pokey

Fed up with reading:
30: Kevin Robertson - The Leader Locomotive, Bulleid's Great Experiment (revised edition).
Overly repetitious of detail and a lot of 'He said...', 'He might have said...', 'He might not have said...', 'Someone might have thought he said...' anecdotes.
It is very tedious, and I might just jump ahead to find out about the actual locomotive itself.
Even some of the photo captions are like someone using Alt Text to add information because they ran out of character count!

#Books #Reading #Bookstodon

Maker_of_Things,

I have finished reading:
29: Kate Mascarenhas - Hokey Pokey.
Interesting twist to the story that reveals in steps. I could quite happily read more of it.

Still reading:
30: Kevin Robertson - The Leader Locomotive, Bulleid's Great Experiment (revised edition).
But really just looking at the pictures and the captions to see if it gets interesting again.

Started reading:
31: Arthur C Clarke and Michael Kube-McDowell - The Trigger.
Read it before but not for about 10 years.

#Books #Reading #Bookstodon

Maker_of_Things,

I have finished reading:
31: Arthur C Clarke and Michael Kube-McDowell - The Trigger.

I have given up reading:
30: Kevin Robertson - The Leader Locomotive, Bulleid's Great Experiment (revised edition).
Now just looking at the pictures occasionally.

Started reading:
32: Stephen Baxter - Moonseed.
Found it in a charity shop and it looked interesting and has a major character called Alfred!
Also Venus gets blown up in the first chapter!

@Maker_of_Things I've created an account at https://mastodon.social/@ramblingreaders@toot.community to start logging reads and its great as I can follow that account on Mastodon too - might be worth a look? :)

Maker_of_Things,

@diyelectromusic
Ahh, I have an account there but I didn't bother getting into looking at how it worked. I am just happy tooting it here this year.
I was only doing it to see how much I read in a year and it is my book count since last Christmas.

I should have a proper look at Rambling Readers again.
