@stephaniewalter I agree with you. That's why it's important to have both modes so you have a choice.
I have no problem talking about it. When a site doesn't have a dark theme, on my computer I use a Dark Reader chrome extension which does the job, even if sometimes it doesn't have enough contrast.
On my iPhone, I recently discovered that on Safari I could use the reader that displays the page in a dark theme and hides the ads. That's really helpful!
