@andycarolan does the family tier allows for other family my members accounts to play Downloaded content say two members playing the same game at a time and such?
@gabz oh sorry, it’s my fault… still under the influence of flu.
Ok, so Nintendo family stuff is weird. There are workarounds, but if I buy a game on my account, my wife can’t play that game on her account… at all. It checks that the person bought the game, not the family account.
@andycarolan oh no you are good, like I’ve said, I am not entirely awake yet 😅
Ha! That was my fear, that’s why everyone use my account on their switches and if one of my kids is going to play a downloaded game I have to verify it and then turn their WiFi off so the other kid can play another downloaded game. If it’s from the cartridge is fine I otherwise ,yeah, it’s dumb
@braker1nine Yes, it’s ridiculous. The additional problem now is that many games look like they might be physical, but when you open the box, there’s a download code inside. I bought one fairly recently that did that. Can’t recall what it was though @gabz
@andycarolan@braker1nine@gabz if there's only a download code it is normally specified on the box, no? Like in this photo (bottom right off the screen)
@podiboq I only noticed when I received it as it was a mail order one IIRC. I do remember thinking that creating, wrapping and shipping an empty box was such a pointless and incredible waste of resources. I would rather have bought just the code, but it was considerably more expensive at the time... because Nintendo @braker1nine@gabz
@braker1nine I don't know. Maybe they will end up with a new console that accepts Switch games in cartridge form, but Switch 2 only digitally? Who knows... they've been understandably quiet about any potential new system @gabz
@andycarolan@gabz@braker1nine I'd be surprised if it didn't because a ton of physical Switch games are out there and for those not to be backwards and compatible with Switch 2 would be silly.
@johnglass Well, personally, I would like to see an upgraded Switch model (Switch 2), which is backwards compatible and with a game card slot... but I don't 100% trust Nintendo not to do something silly - You know how quirky they are as a company, sometimes it pays off, other times they release a WiiIU 😅 @gabz@braker1nine
