It's weird sitting out on the front porch when the amazon delivery person shows up. Like, do I get up and apologize for being a lazy dickhead, should I help him deliver the next few packages to the neighbors? I usually just end up saying something dumb, then kick myself later, dragging the delivery on in my mind for several hours. I should just run inside and hide from them next time. #amazon#hiding
@gtbarry Give it a month, grubhub will be used only by prime users because the fees are being passed on the the restaurant and they have to set the prices 20% higher to absorb those fees.
Just like every restaurant's menu is already 20-40% higher priced online because they get shafted by all the delivery services.
I bought something on #Amazon (local stores didn't have it), and it took Amazon 11 days to ship, and then after a month of waiting now the order page has this sentence in bold:
>> Your package may be lost
I genuinely wonder how such a large package (~0.5kg and perhaps 40cmx15cmx15cm) in this day and age can be "lost"! don't they have some sort of ledger in postal services? After all, we are not talking about network connection back in 80s with such massive packet loss!!
Deals on Kindles may seem attractive, but don't forget Amazon is one of the most devoted peddlers of DRM. We prefer books we can loan to our friends, free of restriction and prying eyes. Read more about how to live DRM-free: https://u.fsf.org/1aj#EndDRM#DRM#BoycottAmazon#Amazon
@bookwar I didn’t complain about Amazon not supporting the Fedora project. I proposed they could add mirrors of their own to take the load of existing mirrors, caused by instances running in their network by their customers. Seems this is being looked at, so that’s a good thing. I’ve updated my toot accordingly.
@j9t oh that's good at least - but what a dumb pain. I was just thinking of the VERY few books we have on ours - didn't even know you could grab, etc like @brandonwrites mentioned. That's wild.
#Amazon are running an advert on #Twitch for #Audible. A woman has increasing problems with her car and just chuckles somewhat insanely. Punch-line is that whilst it's all going wrong around her she's listening to something funny.
Amazon want you to think "hey it's lightening her mood".
What I'm actually thinking is that if she wasn't distracted by trivia she wouldn't shaft her car, drop her keys carelessly into an oily ditch, or stupidly leave her door open to the road to have it torn off.
The #Amazon#Kuiper project prototype #satellites have been actively deorbited after what the company describes as "a 100% success rate across our key mission objectives".
