So the reveal party was like this. 5 of us (really 6, one person was also holding a 5-month-old) stood behind my son and daughter-in-law. We opened the envelope and then held up signs that signified what the gender was (they were two sided signs). A photographer took pictures and then snapped a picture with a Polaroid camera and handed them the picture. We then put the signs down while they waited for the picture to develop so we could watch then find out. What an awesome reveal method!
So it’s a girl and will be named Evelyn, named after the character from The Mummy, and they will be calling their daughter Evey (I’ve decided she’s actually named after Evey from V for Vendetta). FYI had it been a boy it would have been named Loki.
Either way I’d be happy, but I’d say I am quite pleased as this will be my first granddaughter as her cousins are all boys.
@simplenomad That's such a cool reveal! And congratulations on getting a girl in the family! Evey is a great name and V for Vendetta was an excellent movie.
My youngest has turned into a #horse girl. This is way outside my frame of reference as I’m not a fan of horses and had no exposure to them growing up. But it makes her #happy so I endure. (Still can’t) ALT teenage age girl and a horse
@ceamba That's great! My 13 year old does riding lessons out here about once every two weeks and she really enjoys it. Unfortunately, she is allergic either to horses, or something else out there, and comes home absolutely wrecked every time. Still keeps going though.

Similar to last week. I was feeling much more stiff and a bit more tired than last squat session, so I stayed back from 85% 1rm. I threw on knee sleeves for the high end set. That helped let me get loosened up and a bit more confident mentally for the rest of the workout.
@losttourist I really got back into it during the covid lockdown since I couldn't be on site. I mostly do it now if I have a three day weekend with nothing else going on.
I do however make french bread and bagels all the time, since that can just be knocked after work and be done by bed time.
I'm 35, but I had a junior SA approach me looking for tasks (though he is not even on my team) and I had nothing for him. So he asked if I had any advice for a 23 year old and all I could think to tell him was "Floss every day"....
There's like an urge in my body to squeeze it from the bottom that feels efficient and tidy and it messes my mind up when I use a toothpaste that somebody has squeezed right in the middle. I wanna know people's stance on this, so what kinda squeezer are you?
I do it the right way. Push from the seal towards the opening until there are only like two brush-worths left, then I fold the sides by the opening to get those last drops.
Congratulations! it's a fun ride, filled with ups and downs and sidewayses. Just always give 100% even if your partner can't and remember to communicate. Take in and enjoy every moment because it goes by so fast. Good luck to you guys!
Also, Josh is an excellent prospective name for a future child. No reason for my partiality in particular.
If you are comfortable, shoot me a link! I'd love to check it out. I don't often have time to sit and watch, but it would be cool to check it out. Good luck!
Well don't underestimate the soothing power of a guitar and singing to lull a sleepless child. Unless you only play death metal. It could still work though...
You are a braver person than I am. For being such an invaluable career, teachers do not make nearly enough. Props for moving back into education though.
Me? Man, you are the first one to ask me that. I got a promotion at work that came with a 20% raise, but it's going to take a while before I see it. I recently consolidated all of my debt and will be completely debt free in three years or earlier. But I guess most of all, I am going to be ordering some more sunglasses soon and I'm pretty stoked to try them out. It's the little things, you know?
Good luck! What are you looking to do in IT? I'm currently working enterprise infrastructure which is just fancy talk for I click on things in servers until the do what I want.
That's not bad at all. At 35, I have only recently started looking to the future for where I want to be. I have always just been a day by day person. Life just seems easier that way, fewer let downs, more surprises. Hope things stay good for you!
I work in IT for the government currently. There is definitely a massive shortage for government and contractor IT positions nationwide (USA). If you are near any military installments, check them out! last I looked, I think there were like 19,000 IT related job postings. Good luck out there!
That's excellent! It's amazing how much of a change being happy at work can make. Having that passion definitely makes it feel like you aren't even working.
Hell yeah! Don't ever give it up. One of my favorite people I have worked for told me, when I was failing miserably at a management position I got shoved into, that we learn far more from our failures than our successes. As long as your learn something, the time is not wasted.
Even if it takes you 69,420 more attempts, the time will continue to pass either way. Once you cross that finish line, the struggles will be but a distant memory. You will be glad that you stuck with it. Good luck with your classes! Keep that head held high :)

Finally getting back into it.
What advice would you give to a 23 year old?
I'm 35, but I had a junior SA approach me looking for tasks (though he is not even on my team) and I had nothing for him. So he asked if I had any advice for a 23 year old and all I could think to tell him was "Floss every day"....
First attempt at everything bagels
My first time trying croissants!
What kind of toothpaste squeezer are you?
There's like an urge in my body to squeeze it from the bottom that feels efficient and tidy and it messes my mind up when I use a toothpaste that somebody has squeezed right in the middle. I wanna know people's stance on this, so what kinda squeezer are you?
