Time to start the new cycle! Workout tonight:

Deadlifts: warm ups, 1x3 @ 275 (83% 1rm), 5x6 @ 255lbs.
Close grip bench: 3x8, 1x10 @ 160lbs (70% 1rm)
Curls/Skullcrushers: supersetted 3x15 @ 40lbs.

The supersets at the end might be the worst part lol.

Boiling at the gym.
Points the fan at my body instead of the weights on the floor "
WOW FANS WORK!"

pseudoramble,

@jesse_saenz in my defense it was hot. Also my box fan alone isn't enough. I have more on the way though!

Having a strong case of the Don’t Wannas as I get ready for a week of work travel.

I’m not sure why; it will be a useful week and I genuinely like my coworkers.

I do worry that we’re all running too thin right now; it’s a very busy season, and I am not sure when we’ll see the other side.

pseudoramble,

@bomkatt travel is tough for me even if everything else is great sand the trip is exciting. It's just a lot. Doesn't sound like that's the case for you though?

Tempted to try #calckey again. Any instance recommendations? Think I'm looking for a general one for the most part, since what I post about varies quite a bit. I'm also not really sure what self hosting requirements would be either, bandwidth and server capacity wise.

pseudoramble,

@finner Running my own is tempting but I don't have appropriate capacity for it, and frankly don't think i know how to do a good job running one. So most likely I join an existing one and pay to support it.

Hopefully you figure out what you want soon!

I have somebody who is asking me about setting up some IP Cameras at their house. They generally are looking for checking occasionally, and not necessarily recording though they're open to that. They're looking for up to three cameras, though depending on price they might only want one.

Main requirements outside of that are it needs to be dead easy to use, remote access, and secure as practically possible. Setup can be medium complexity since I'll be doing it. Can be hardwired/PoE. Suggestions?

Email subject: Class of 2000 25 year reunion

Me: oh for fucks sake

Email opening line: Get ready, fam! We are planning a prom themed blow-out to celebrate 25 years of (in joke, in joke, and in joke). To secure the venue we have created a (crowdfunding) site with a goal of $20,000

Me: line mouth

Email: we have plenty of time between now and summer 2025, so just give a little whenever you have it

Me: no

Email: tickets will be $350

Me: oh my God Michelle, Jill, Kristin, and Katie what on earth

Email: attire will be black tie and formal

Me:
Hey y'all can remove me from this mailing list

Katie, a human I have not spoken to in 25 years: you always were a fucking buzz kill, don't be such a tight ass.

Me: report spam

pseudoramble,

@anathema lol. Curious if someday I'll be in a similar situation. I'm not so sure.

pseudoramble,

@anathema yeah that's crazy lol. High school reunion grifters??

Went to a Mexican / Peruvian restaurant last night in London (Leicester Square Kitchen), which promised a #vegan menu.

It was delicilous, and everyone enjoyed the sharing places I ordered (especially the chargrilled cabbage steak), but there is something missing here, can you tell what it is?

pseudoramble,

@shauny looks so good! What do you think of that tofu? It looks rather soft to me and I usually prefer it more firm/crisp. But the soft-ness might work for this plate?

pseudoramble,

@shauny yeah makes sense given the breakfast meal you were eating.

Bought a domain today and am going to explore opening up a small Kbin instance with a group of friends I know are thoughtful and interesting people.

pseudoramble,

@timmymac Very nice! Hope it goes well! Do you self host or use a provider? Actually there may not even be kbin hosts yet.

pseudoramble,

@timmymac time to build a new server just in case!

Huge news with drastic environment and ethical implications. Should be an interesting and positive step forward on the treatment of animals, large slaughter houses, and dietary considerations.

https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2023/06/21/1183484892/no-kill-meat-grown-from-animal-cells-is-now-approved-for-sale-in-the-u-s

pseudoramble,

@jesse_saenz pretty interesting developments indeed! I'm still in the "wouldn't recommend" camp myself, because I don't fully get the environmental impacts. It also uses animal cell banks, which I don't get how they're run and how their processes work, and I'm concerned about animal harm still.

That all being said, I still think it's an interesting and worthwhile goal! It seems like a good step in a positive direction. What do you think?

pseudoramble,

@jesse_saenz 100%! I don't mean to be discouraging about what I think could be positive. For now I'd still recommend going veg of some kind. I could envision a day when this kind of meat could be a special occasion thing for myself. It'll be neat to see how far it goes!

pseudoramble,

@bomkatt @jesse_saenz I'm hopeful this will work out in the long run. There will probably always be some people that won't consider this real enough, but hopefully it'll be enough to appease most

Switched from Arc to Firefox this morning and realized I hadn't ever set up PostCSS nesting on my blog. I was wondering why it looked like garbage on Firefox!

pseudoramble,

@starshaped lol I use FF all the time and I thought the entry I read this morning looked fine?? Did you fix it before publishing that or something?

pseudoramble, to random

Good morning, internet. Here we are once again.

pseudoramble,

@bomkatt 100%! I'm very fortunate to be in a place where that's the case! Hoping to keep it that way.

I was thinking of taking an improv class to work on thinking on my feet, but D&D is doing the job for me! My current group’s into really role playing our characters and while I feel SUPER AWKWARD doing it, I’m getting better at it.

pseudoramble,

@starshaped I only ever did part of a single campaign, but yeah it was pretty fun and definitely hard. I don't feel like I would need that multiple times a week lol.

If any of you find yourself in a situation where you are having neck pain and you want to raise your monitor up, but for some reason your monitor has the VESA plate at the very top of your large monitor and you're looking for an extra tall monitor mount, I just got this bad boy and installed it. It's a beast and worth the 20ish bucks.

Still one of the best and most haunting albums ever. I first heard this in high school when I was very steeped into my jam band phase of music, but still being blown away.

It was my first major chip in my ignorance armor that musicians often extremely multi-faceted and skilled. I was way too quick to typecast and dismiss things. This started to change things.

Oh my lord, my protein powder tastes so much better drowned in soy milk lol. I did about half water and half soy milk just now.

Only issue is that it's way too rich to have on a normal basis. Gonna try 1/4 soy milk next time.

pseudoramble,

@bomkatt https://myvega.com/products/vega-sport-premium-protein?variant=30113532772395. I'm pretty used to it in just water, but man it's magic with other stuff!
