I mostly do #teletext things. Mainly nerdy coding and teletext archiving stuff, but occasional #TeletextArt too.

Shamelessly copying @JamieNemeth's @trekkietext concept to imagine what it might look like in The Next Generation level 2.5 😀

zxguesser,

Realised I can do better than last night's effort and tweaked the curves up a bit with more enhancements 🤓

  • zxguesser,

@Dtl @decryption @froosh I don't know about Australian telly standards, but if they follow the European way of doing things there might be a packetised elementary stream muxed in carrying teletext subtitle data.

I've captured the whole transport stream with VLC in the past which will read DVB-TXT, or something like TSDuck to go poking around in the different streams to see what's there and find out the PIDs for extracting it etc.

    zxguesser,

@Dtl @decryption @froosh terrestrial telly in the UK uses DVB-SUB instead of DVB-TXT and would be the same process to find which packetised elementary stream to extract, I just don't know anything about the format of the payload in that case 😅

For those who couldn't get to on Saturday, here's the unusual teletext service recovered from VHS tape by Tom41, which I've cleaned up and showed for the first time.
This was broadcast on a TV guide channel of a local cable TV in the Harrow area in January 1999

    zxguesser,

It carried all the information you might want to know, back in the days before you could ask your digital assistant when is bins.
There's various bits of community news, and no doubt if the service existed today would tell you all about the Hatch End Association Riverside Park project I was reading about on the notice board while having a pleasant stroll around the grounds of the Arts Centre.

Information about the elected councillors, and current (in 1999) mayor.

£35 for renewing a dot-io domain, feels like this doubles every year.

    zxguesser,

@philpem trying to milk it for all its worth before the UN makes us give our stolen islands back?

Checking the TVs are correctly tuned, and there's enough batteries for all the remote controls ready for in Harrow this Saturday 📺

I think that's the AC changeover board for the system done. Input comes from a 16A breaker on the garage DB, but the output from the inverter goes through an RCBO before returning.
Changeover switch is so I can shut down the inverter and supply the 13A UPS-protected circuits from grid power for maintenance.
