Doesn't feel great starting to work on your 2 year #Unity project today with the recent policy changes they've made. Not really keen on using Unity again after this project is finished but thinking about the knowledge I've gained about their proprietary software suite it'll be such a waste!

I think I've learned my lesson. Learning to use #proprietary #closedsource systems is a total waste of time as in any moment the owner of the system could flip a switch and everything you learned is invalid.

Big Day: I just put up my "NO MORE NEW FEATURES” sign for my iOS 17/watchOS 10 updates.

A little tradition I have where I draw a line in the sand and stop working on new features and instead to switch to solely polish and bug fixing in the run-up to a major release.

I find having a physical sign is super helpful to constantly remind me to stay on target and get this update properly finished.

I'm not working on anything #screenshot worthy today but at it is #screenshotsaturday I thought I'd share some screenshots of the extremely beautiful environment art Anja Schmitt did for #GarbageCrew

Alltough all the trees, houses and decorations are purely cosmetic and won't intercept with gameplay they give so much value to the game as the world feels so much more legit and fun this way!

Working on getting that sweet green "✅ Fully Steam Deck Compatible" badge. The game works really great out of the box but there are a few things that can be tuned for a great experience!

I bought a second hand Samsung S8 3 years ago (the model is 6 years old).

This computer has a better cpu/ram/storage/screen than most pcs I've ever own.

I still don't understand why it cannot be used as a general purpose computer. I will try in the next months to use it as my personal development device, and see how far I can make it.

@glaskows Does the S8 support Samsung Dex? Because that should make using it as a daily driver really easy! Just plug it into a monitor, connect a keyboard and a mouse and you have a full fledged desktop OS.

I've never really used it but I always found the concept pretty cool!

@glaskows Sadly I've also never tried this but I'm kinda intrigued right now.

My current project won't really work without a powerful machine with a GPU but I'll definitely try it out in the future!

What are people reading at the moment? I'm ploughing through "Silo" by Hugh Howey. It's a page turner but dark!

@upmultimedia I've just started readin "You" by Austin Grossman. It's a fictional story about a game designer saving a product launch by traveling through old games and memories. It seems kinda abstract but I'll see where it goes.

oh my god, “rainbow” is “rain bow”

as in a bow shape made by rain

@fasterthanlime I knew this despite English being my 2nd language but in German it's "Regenbogen" which can are, as in English, the two words for one rain (Regen) and bow (Bogen) so my vote might count as "Yes, English 1st"

#poll when was the last time you've seen an advertisement

@aeva I would love to see this poll for different levels of technical knowledge because I have the feeling a person that isn't that technically versed would always answer with "in the last five minutes".

I have taken a lot of measures to see no (digital) ads at all but I know a lot of people that have no idea how to install an AdBlock browser add-on let alone setup a proxy like Pihole that blocks ads network wide.

@aeva I feel like I need to defend this, but you are probably right, although I was talking about digital ads. Of course I can't install a proxy for physical ads, although I would if I could.
