Found a magazine that appears to be a raunchy bridge between 1950s pulp and modernish adult magazines called CAVALIER. Tons of ads of-their-time.

@textfiles I remember my parents having this thing!

It's funny how I've seen multiple people talking about how Microsoft Recall doesn't take pictures of DRM media, as if this was a conscious decision the Recall team made, and not just a natural consequence of how screenshots already work on modern windows.

@foone does it also turn up a blank with DirectX? I seem to recall that requiring a different capture method

Silly question:
You know how there are HDMI splitters/adapters that strip DRM?

Are there any that do the opposite? Add DRM?

Like, if I want my computer to think my VCR's HDMI signal is Highly Copyrighted Stuff, can I do that?

@foone not sure on HDMI but if you want to make a consumer grade DVD recorder refuse to touch a signal, just put some junk in the horizontal interval on the "front porch" or so

Why buy a cable when I can make a shitty adapter

@foone years ago I had a ridiculous PC Chips motherboard in a 486 machine where for some reason it would suddenly reboot if it was under high CPU load without a bit of mouse or keyboard input.

Oh, to have been "blessed" by having the US sales outlet for them in town before online shopping was a thing. It was originally called BEK for some reason.

The worst part about repairing a dryer over several days is that by the time you're finally able to put it back together, you have no idea where the SCSI cable went.
Gotta check all the DIY repair YouTube videos to see where this came from.

@foone this reminds me of how I became aware at some point that my Olympus E-PL2 camera's firmware update process for some reason involves using a special driver that causes something inside the camera to emulate a SCSI host adapter and storage device

I suspect this was done out of, uh, weird simplicity; there's not a whole ton of logic on a SCSI adapter.

You're never gonna believe this, but it turns out I'm gonna need to build a new keyboard

@foone I have a bad habit of using a problem like this as an excuse to wire up a bunch of really cool looking arcade pushbuttons
