@Wyatt I run my system with a very minimal set of software. Because my work doesn't need too many to have in the system. So, as a result, the update and upgrade are most of the time pretty small including their dependency. This lean system has evolved over the decades of use. Removing unnecessary stuff is one big thing I have learned from using things and helps. Adding is easy and it brings overhead too. Lastly, I have built my own kernel over two decades on various other distros I have used. :)
Nope, I don't need fancy stuff in my day-to-day editors, where I spend most of my time fiddling with my stupidity.
But, why the fuck, are "experts in those tools" promoting those "fancy" ..."eye-candy" things, plus why the heck, do they promote utterly useless complex config ..
