Which means, they (not only Poles at the end of the day!) can leverage the power of several search engines at one place.

Yesterday, we've also made up a new record: 219 searches! The new machine handled it perfectly.

Regarding our infrastructure, I will be soon moving it to the home country of Poland.

Thanks to @piotrsikora and his non-profit Technology for People Foundation, SVMetaSearch will (hopefully) get subsequently faster. We will start small (2 vCPUs and 2 GB of RAM plus 32 GB of space powered by SSD) and when necessary the founder of the foundation will be notified about scaling necessity (e.g. when SVMetaSearch starts to get tens of thousands of queries daily).

I also have brokered an agreement between myself and @piotrsikora that half of donations going towards SVMetaSearch will be also donated towards his foundation - making both of us financially sustainable.

Worth mentioning is the servers are being powered mainly by the solar energy, making us more eco-friendly!

We hope to see you on the SVMetaSearch side! Tell your friends, family and even your neighbours' dog(s) about the project!

Today on 3rd May Poland celebrates another anniversary of its first ever constitution. It was signed on 03/05/1791 - and was the first European constitution ever.

Most people quote the American constitution as the first ever ratified one - it's finally ratified on 21/06/1788, right?

Turns out that the San Marino has the oldest such document known to man, ratified in year 1600.

From where we know that? Well, we searched for it!

Today, on 2nd May, Poland celebrates its national flag. And since SVMetaSearch comes from Poland, we celebrate our flag alongside everyone who do the same.

DuckDuckGo once again shown its lack of interest in their users. That's a clear example of malvertising.

Meanwhile SVMetaSearch? Everyone can toss a buck to help us grow - but we will remain free of charge.

And we protect your privacy unlike DDG "does". First and foremost, we don't use 3rd-party advertising systems. Secondly, we don't broadcast adverts at all. And finally, we're open source.

By the way, here's a simple challenge: spot the malvertising characteristics.

I found several. And no, French language isn't one of them. Malvertising can be done in virtually every language.

A startpage on start.svmetasearch.eu.org? Would consider alongside the searchbar itself customisable backgrounds and favourite sites.

Would be eventually working on extension after that - which sets the homepage to the aforementioned URL and SVMetaSearch as a default engine.

The extension will be available on Chromium-based browsers first (Google Chrome and its derivatives). Will consider Firefox too, but this would require additional time for me to introduce it as both platforms differ in terms of extension APIs.

Since today's morning the VPS which I have mentioned is now working to serve as another instance of SVMetaSearch.

Results now appear way faster and there shouldn't be any timeouts most of the time.

While the scaling was unsuccessful, tonight I've rented another VPS to host SVMetaSearch.

Thus, expect a kind of improvement very soon.
