I have an idea for a promotion called “ Pachelbel at Taco Bell” you have a classical music night at Taco Bell. It will attract ironic hipsters.

Setting up such a server is pointless though because every time I have had a communication problem between servers, when I set up test servers communication worked fine.

I'm excited to find out what programming languages have their own certificate stores instead of using the OS one.

pretty cool, although apparently it doesn't help regular people: https://blog.readwise.io/bionic-reading-results/

no idea if it helps people with dyslexia or w/e

sun,
@sun@shitposter.world avatar

@billiam Well I just discovered I'm neurodivergent then because this made my reading ultra fast

sun,
@sun@shitposter.world avatar

@billiam @piggo I would like a thing that does this at the OS or browser level to text because it's helpful.

Are there container orchestration tools for LXD like docker-compose for Docker?

sun,
@sun@shitposter.world avatar

@SuperDicq Thanks, I have heard of that but never investigated.

I am pondering creating a thing that launches new versions of a bunch of Fedi servers to automate testing interaction between servers to see if they fail.

The meanest prank we ever pulled was, my roommate in university had a ham radio he hacked to be able to broadcast on prohibited frequencies.

We parked in a parking lot next to a McDonalds, and whenever someone would come through the drivethrough, before the employee could say anything he would broadcast to the car "you are too fat to have more mcdonalds, please pull through and exit the drivethrough"

@sun@shitposter.world avatar

So I listened to this and basically the kid used the IR to replay power commands for digital whiteboards.

I did the exact same thing in high school in 1993 with...a programmable TV remote. It is fascinating to think that I could have made news for a silly prank.

@feld @adiz I suppose the same reason dildos are illegal in texas, community obscenity standards.

sun,
@sun@shitposter.world avatar

@adiz @feld I feel like fictional porngraphy would always pass the obscenity challenge if the case can attract a deep pocketed freedom of speech org, right up to this point, I don't believe anybody would help defend photorealistic images.

Had a dream I ate a piece of steak at a venue. I literally couldn't stop myself. Then I saw the entire carcass fit on my plate. Then some guy got up and started shouting, "it's veal! these are baby cows! This is highly unethical!" And I started shouting back, "what is the difference between a baby cow and an adult cow?! Huh?! Huh?!"

sun,
@sun@shitposter.world avatar

@alex I was joking, but this is good information.

I'm reading Charles Cumming's A Spy By Nature and I quite dislike it. the unusual bit is I'll continue because it has the most tedious and insane first person view of a spy selection process. it's so flawed.

sun,
@sun@shitposter.world avatar

@grillchen @kaia the reality of that is pretty mundane. both the USA and the USSR were doing paranormal research because they knew the other one was, and was afraid of a "psychic gap" if there was even a microscopic chance it had any truth to it, and they had the budget. The CIA did a ton of remote viewing experimentation.

sun,
@sun@shitposter.world avatar

@grillchen @kaia these were all back-burner projects in the USA afaik. I'm interested in a Uri Geller paper though, I'll look it up
