I hosted an event last night for the queer community. About a dozen people showed up, which was far more than I expected, so I was stoked about that.

The idea was a very chill open mic. We had a speaking duck (a tiny rubber duck) to pass around, but most people just got on stage. No time limit because there weren't enough people, and I tended to ADHD ramble between people. There were a few "keynotes", people that were advertised as being there, myself being one of them. How this ended up was that I had people I could call on without feeling like I'd put someone on the spot.

And as Arial mentioned, I talked about being plural on stage. I read some poetry and Rose the Rainbow Mouse stories, and talked about coming out as trans and being autistic.

I'm so so happy with it. I'm hoping to do something like that again. I'm good friends with the owner of the space we were at (who had been painting one of the rooms all day and was a little loopy on points fumes ​:giggle:​), so I'm sure she'd love to let me do it again.

Everywhere needs things like that, a chill space where people can talk freely without fear. Where anyone can stand up and tell their story. Everyone in this world has a story, and there's only one like it. There's only one you, only one me.
