Forgot what it's like to be at a coffee shop past like 9pm because so few of them are open that late anymore (here) but it's nice. I don't mind sitting at the bar with my laptop, but not all the time.

@anildash Well and so many of the previous networks grew and were so scrappily designed that they would adapt or grow features based on user demand, because that user adoption was so central to their growth. But having a company like Meta doing this, the incentives are so different and motivations too. It's new turf and a direction that's not gonna be great.

I realized I don't revisit playlists from pre-pandemic as readily because I don't want to really conjure up memories of how much we've lost. It's really stark to have these contrasting experiences about music from 2000, 2008, 2017 as signposts for a world that'll never exist as it did. (Obviously anything from the 1990s might as well be the stone age, heh.)

It wasn't necessarily "good" then, but I feel like...there was hope that now feels...less that way.
