There's been some nice fog lately if you are willing to get up early, and well, I'm apparently not - but I do like grabbing my bike and camera and trying to get interesting views of it burning off.

I’ve been thinking of this photo lately as the trees lose their leaves here at home.

The October 14 annular eclipse, at annularity (first photo) and just before (second photo). These pics are from my dSLR, which I set up along with my telescope (plus solar filter) in the hopes that thick clouds wouldn't cover the event. Crazily, a line of thick clouds was arriving right at annularity, but the eastern central Oregon area did get some glimpses.

A photograph of the sun covered by the now-black disc of the moon, with a thin letter C-shape of sun still visible. Thin clouds with hints of blue are in the filter-darkened sky.

Despite some unlikely weather forecasts, made a last minute trip to Oregon to see the annular eclipse. Had a bit of success for annularity as well as on shots like this before it got pretty cloudy.

Today I definitely need a magical place to be.

Endless layers. If I visit Mt. Rainier during sunrise or sunset, you can bet I'm taking pictures of layered mountains.

Dahlias are really something else - I like the softness of the colors on this one, and the color on the edges of the petals.

A summer storm in eastern Washington state. It was pretty amazing, so I'm sure I'll post more photos in the future! :D

I did something I haven't done in a long time - brought my camera out in my kayak. A long time ago I ruined a camera body thanks to a saltwater encounter in a kayak, so I've been cautious. I tested things out and got a picture of this Great Blue Heron, hunting and wishing I'd just move along.

The road to Sunrise opened last weekend. Here's a sunset picture to celebrate!
