Man, we Europeans are so funny! There's the European Council, which is an EU body BUT NOT the same as the Council of the European Union, which also an EU body. And then there's the Council of Europe, which is also great BUT NOT an EU body. Got it? Finished #Borderlands2 and damn was this a blast! Fantastic game, about 40 hrs of playtime, straight to the point, great action, fun dialogue. More of that, please! #VideoGames

Is it just me, or is the amount of “unknown callers” increasing exponentially.

PRO TIP: many phones have a setting called “Silence Unknown Callers” buried under Settings. Turn it to “On.

Anyone in your Contacts list will still get through.

So, as expected, my equilibrium was really hosed from going to the work event.

Seems so stupid, spending 3 hours with people I like at work meaning that except for the necessary, I was knocked out for most of the day.

I really, really don't understand it. Burnout really doesn't fuck around, does it?

No the jira isn't finished. No I don't understand it. No they don't understand it either. Yes they know it isnt done and yes the preproduction build was done anyway and will have to be done again after a straight 3 days trying to figure out how the fuck to finish it before lunch time tomorrow

I'm going to start doing for you because I need something to think about that isn't forever dread.
Today is: The Frog Galliard by , played on lute by Paul O'Dette.
JD is one of my favourite composers, he is a renaissance composer who mostly composed for lute. It's a calm piece and this recording is for solo lute - though there are (anonymous) lyrics set to it which you can find here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Now_o_now_I_needs_must_part

The reasons I picked this particular recording are:

  • it's very close to the original manuscript
  • solo lute - rather than having the vocals as well - is much less melancholy/wistful (though I do also recommend the song obviously!)
  • look at his face! Look how happy he is to play Dowland!!! Every time I play this album it makes me smile to see, because he looks genuinely pleased to play his favourite Dowland for you 🤣 it's so cute lol

@jynersolives I feel like when I play as a woman, it's a woman I want as a gf 😂 so they're quite masculine aesthetically as well...but yes, usually the women get nicer outfits (not like the old days when it was boobs hanging out of ridiculously impractical armour while the men got badass looking sets). Bg3 is great for just letting everyone wear everything lol

I remember when I discovered that "Last Christmas" was a huge thing at German Christmas parties my first year here, and 15 years later, I am still asking myself why. Everyone at the party seemed to expect that because I'm an English-speaker, this was also my experience.

It is NOT.

I mean, it was a very popular song in the US the year it came out, but it's not exactly a jolly song, and I'd mostly forgotten about it until that party.

Folks with uteri are absolutely within their (our) rights to complain about folks writing us off for being "moody" because we "might be on our periods."

That's some dismissive bullshit.

Worse, it makes it hard to deal with the fact that sometimes we really AREN'T ok. It makes it hard to say, "you know what, I am not at my best right now because {hormones|mood|pain|mess|lack of sleep}, I need to check out," even though it's sometimes the right thing for everyone involved.

@grrrr_shark I have both, and doctors still tell me that losing weight will solve all my problems 🫠 the minimum research into BOTH suggests that I will gain weight and/or find it more difficult to lose it, but I should just magically lose weight. I get at least a week of "I wish I was dead" depression before it, during it, bleed for 4 days every hour of the day, 2 light days either side, have back pain with it, have trouble walking from hip pain for 2 full weeks before it but if I just tried🙄
