@masukomi Anything between 120 and 200gsm paper should be fine. Lower and it doesn't feel like a separate cover, higher and you need to score and prefold a lot.

Lamination with foil or paper or covering the cover in paint or varnishes can also strengthen the softcover.

Also keep an eye on the grain direction or the stress can war your book or make the binding less durable.

@juergen_hubert Whenever I think of Ciaphas Cane I'm reminded of Henry Cavil being:

1. a huge 40k nerd
2. attached to star/produce some kinda 40k thing for amazon
3. incredibly funny

and thing whistfully of what could be but probably won't. sigh

A CC tv series screams for a "Hi, that's me, you're probably wondering how I got into this mess." cold start and general tone, with lots of voiceover, etc.
