I really enjoyed live-tweeting Apple's #WWDC keynote last year (and got quite a nice response when I did!), but unfortunately this coming Monday is looking to be one of the craziest days of work I've ever attempted, so I'm going to be playing catch-up in the evening.
Overall, I feel pretty good about my takes from last June. It hasn't been a smash hit, but contrary to a lot of vitriol I saw here, #VisionPro didn't even make the top ten most dystopian tech products to ship in the last 12 months.
I have so much anti-motivation today it's astounding. Like medically impossible. Against all laws of physics and probability. If you could bottle it, it could be used to end wars. To dispel riots. You could instantly stop capitalism in its tracks. I genuinely think I should be studied for science (and paid a million pounds).
I would say that the word “nosh” is my “moist,” but that doesn’t do it justice.
It would be more accurate to say that I’m Liam Neeson’s character from ‘Taken,’ and you saying the word “nosh” is the equivalent of kidnapping my daughter.
Fuck off, Tina Hamilton. “I don't want you to exploit my likeness for marketing purposes" isn't a weird thing for employees to ask. It's definitely not a warning sign that they secretly have a whole second career they're trying to hide. 🙄
@rejinl Yeah, it’s funny how articles that fret about things like overemployment always stop just short of suggesting that paying employees more is the solution.
New Upgrade: It's time for a Vision Pro check-in. How are we using it, and how should Apple sell it? Also, some EU app marketplace developers just want to go home.
@jsnell Your point this week about iPhone segmentation is well taken.
Neither of my last two iPhones (blue Xr and yellow 14 Plus) were the top-of-the-line when I bought them, and I could have afforded to go higher, but in both cases I know tech and my own needs well enough to know these were more than good enough. Also (in a very Upgrade twist), I wanted the more colorful options.
To your point, I don't feel "priced out" of the best iPhones; I have a choice of how much iPhone I really want.
For me there are a few people who are usually equalizing, and I can just be around them, so I won't count that. But generally, I find about 3 times a week, I'm game for socializing. A day in between to rest is usually nice, but the larger the gathering or if we go somewhere particularly noisy or I'm meeting new people that involves more effort, and my social battery empties sooner. I'm very curious where everyone else falls on this!
@rephlex00 Try listing all of the hates that you need to feel during the day, then focus on loathing one thing at time, starting with the most important one. #priorities
@bomkatt I appreciate them in specific contexts. I would not generally seek them out for their own sake, but encountered at (for instance) the burial site of a big funeral for someone on the Scottish side of my family, they have a certain nostalgic charm and comfort.
