This week, plus four more weeks until I can start my summer vacation. Four full weeks of no meetings and no work. Can't wait! Already counting down.

Sometimes I think that I would like to take a sabbatical, like a full year, to do other things. But I also know that last time I was between jobs* for three months, I got very bored.

  • I was literally between jobs. As in, I had a new job contract, but was waiting for a security clearance to go through so I could start.

Seriensenf:

S01: Mehr Mystery als Sci-Fi, teilweise mit echten lรคngen, verwirrend. Gefiel mir nicht wirklich

S02: Wesentlich besser als S01, man scheint die Richtung langsam zu kriegen. Es fรผgt sich. Mag den Soundtrack.

S01: Was fรผr ein unglaublicher Plottwist. Ich will nicht Spoilern, aber eine tolle Serie! Wow. saustark.

Und als letztes S01: Aktueller denn je, unbedingt ansehen!

Can someone help, i have been having trouble connected with my home universities vpn, for past 15-20days, it is an openvpn connection, so i have been using networkmanager-openvpn to import my config files, and they have worked previously, but for last 15-20 days i get connection timed out, all certificates used are correct, i...

So, I started playing World of Warcraft again this weekend ... ๐Ÿ˜

I've been playing it on and off since just after its European release in 2005. My oldest characters have reached legal drinking age. ๐Ÿ˜…

I stopped playing in 2021 as I really disliked the Shadowlands expansion. The one before was excellent, and I'm now playing Dragonflight from 2022, which also seems good so far. There is a new one coming after the summer or thereabouts. We'll see how long I last this time!

Cannot run Wayland on nVidia at all

Hello, Iโ€™m facing some rather annoying issues with running KDE6 on Wayland. Despite consulting the Arch Wiki and various online resources, I havenโ€™t been able to get it working. X11 works fine, so Iโ€™ve been sticking with X exclusively due to my limited experience with desktop Linux and troubleshooting....

This should work for all Nvidia user working with Plasma6 on Arch, Garuda etc:

Edit /etc/mkinitcpio.conf

MODULES=()

Change the Line and add the Nvidia Modules:

MODULES=(nvidia nvidia_modeset nvidia_uvm nvidia_drm)

Save the File and create the initramfs:

sudo mkinitcpio -P

Now Add the Kernelflags to Grub: nano /etc/default/grub

There is a line like this:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="loglevel=3 quiet"

add this to the line:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="loglevel=3 quiet nvidia_drm.modeset=1"

Now generate the new Grub config:

sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg

Reboot and have fun with wayland. Maybe you have to install: xorg-xwayland

Laptop won't shut down on any kernel version above 6.7

Iโ€™ve been trying to install Arch on an old laptop for the past few days but for some reason it will not shut down if Iโ€™m using any kernel above version 6.7. It goes all the way through and gets to Reached target: System Power Off but then just sits there and never actually powers down. I waited 30 minutes in case it did...
