What was your favorite magazine to read as a teenager?

kohelet,
@kohelet@mstdn.social avatar

@EricAlper
Didn't really read magazines as a teenager.
I preferred just books.
not sure why.
probably because was expensive to my parents so I didn't really thought of any anyway.

Ah, I feel bad.
this person answered my toot a while back,
and it was a good answer,
but they put links to 3 articles and I think,
well I'm not gonna reply back if I didn't read them.

But I always procrastinate reading them and it's been like a month now

You just have to admit, PowerShell is way supririour (hu) to Bash and it's wrappers,
and people who have realized that and moved to using PS (on linux) are just better and smarter.

I'm gonna add a digital signiture to all my messages "I use PowerShell, BTE" regardless of context, destination, and if I really used powershell to send this message.

What a nightmare I had:
I dreamed that I was asked to perform in guitar the poor 4 chords I learned,
and everything sounded like shit. I couldn't get the guitar to produce pleasent sounds.
and that's it.
not as bad by itself, but it was in the frame of a nighmare so it was experienced in the worse way possible.

and all be "How do I copy a file in Python?"
Today, you'll need to be very specific and watch for 10 other questions that remind of yours and be marked as a copy question.

I have a quesiton about programming in Python.
Many times when I have a number of options (functions) to run, I wanna generlize the main function as much as possible,
and end up doing a dictionary with function names as values like this:
options = {'1': func1, '2': func2}
and then call them like this:
options['1'](parameter=smth)

  1. is it best practice/by convention?
  2. do people do that in general? are there better options?

thanks!

@anselmschueler
hmm starred argument is an interesting idea. I didn't use it before (just read about it).

usually I'd build all my functions to accept the same number of variables so it works, but starred arguments solves.

now for match statement function,
how would you implement it exactly?
didn't quite understand the idea

Welcome to our famously inclusive CAPTCHA! Please click on all objects that induce the most nausea in a several of our users but none of our robots.

(yes this is a real screenshot of hCaptcha. I think that since squids and lobsters are both found at markets, the CAPTCHA generated a cursed squid-lobster).

Explanation: harder CAPTCHAs like these require users to focus on each image and think a little more than others. Focusing on a blurry image with contents that are hard to identify is a nausea trigger for a lot of people. #Accessibility

If I have the chance (email address is somewhere accessible) I'd email them site owner.

I really hate captcha, and I have no means trying to solve this or other types of captcha when I'm trying to do anything.

If sites don't want me I won't come.

zlendy, to music

I never expected to be willing to pay for a #music player and yet here we are.

#Symfonium is extremely beautiful, customizable and powerful.
I personally use it with #Jellyfin, although multiple other sources are supported (such as #Plex and #Subsonic)

I really don't mind it not being #FOSS as long as it respects my #privacy and #choices.

How's Jellyfin compared to Navidrome in terms of music streaming?
If in both cases you use Symfonium, there should be no difference, no?

I'm using Navidrome and Symfonium, and thought as next step to self host Jellyfin, so I can stream TV shows and movies as well.
and then probably get rid of Navidrome.

kohelet,
@kohelet@mstdn.social avatar

@zlendy
I agree!
I tested almost all the Subsonic clients there are,
and Symfonium is by far the best I have used.
very costumizeable, very intuitive and comfortable to use.
many good features and Playlist making.

Really love it.
